IBC Stand: 3.341, IBC, Amsterdam
- 11th September 2006- Chyron Corporation
(OTC BB: CYRO) has today unveiled a major mobile
innovation for the broadcast market. WAPSTR, launched
during IBC2006, allows anyone with a mobile phone
to become a "breaking news" gatherer.
Chyron's WAPSTR software application,
running in conjunction with Chyron's CAMIO asset
management MOS Newsroom Computer System (NCS)
- such as iNews®, ENPS® and Dalet®
- allows the easy and speedy ingest of stills
and video footage from members of the public's
mobile phones into the newsroom workflow. This
content is then immediately available for transmission
to air, the web and mobile platforms.
Deployment of WAPSTR by local and
national broadcasters will drive viewer loyalty,
viewer involvement and viewer ratings. A recent
industry survey shows that 44 per cent of the
public already use their mobile phones as their
primary camera; video is the next landmark in
mobile usage.
Michael Wellesey-Wesley, Chyron
CEO commented, "Often in news immediacy is
key. WAPSTR enables members of the public first
on the scene to record events and send them to
a broadcaster's news facility. This content is
then automatically placed in the NCS (with no
disruption to existing workflow) and played out
to air within seconds. We are experiencing considerable
interest in WAPSTR at IBC and anticipate closing
multiple orders at the show."
