About the FLO Forum
The FLO Forum is a multi-company initiative committed to advancing the global standardization of FLO Technology. Composed of industry-leading organizations, the FLO Forum works to promote the development of FLO Technology based products and services by its member companies to enable the delivery of advanced multimedia services to wireless consumers. The FLO Forum is organized to promote the global standardization of FLO Technology, including compliance and certification benchmarks for the technology.

About FLO Technology
FLO Technology is a new air interface and end-to-end system architecture designed to support Terrestrial Mobile Multimedia Multicast (TM3) capabilities that increase capacity and reduce content delivery costs to mobile handsets. FLO Technology enables mobile users to see and hear high quality video and audio, browse news, sports and weather updates, or watch the stock ticker - wherever they are, anytime, and without delays.

Created specifically to multicast significant volumes of rich multimedia content, such as multiple real-time, streaming video channels, FLO enables wireless operators to cost-effectively deliver news, entertainment, and informational programming in clips and streaming video to millions of mobile users at once. FLO provides the technology for distributing multimedia content efficiently and economically without impacting current networks.

FLO Forum Structure
The FLO Forum is a contribution driven organization with member companies providing technical and market driven submissions towards the advancement of the Forum's objectives.

The FLO Forum's organizational structure includes a Board of Directors, a Secretariat and several committees that have been set up to support forum initiatives.

The FLO Forum currently has five committees, each with their own area of focus and deliverables all related to advancing the global reach of FLO.

  • The Technical Committee focuses on the generation of FLO technical specifications for all areas of a FLO System including the FLO Air Interface
  • The Services and Content Committee focuses on FLO Service and Content Requirements Documents which are then delivered to the Technical Committee to generate specifications.
  • Test and Certification Committee, in conjunction with the Technical Committee, creates submission-ready FLO Minimum Performance and Test Specifications.
  • Regulatory Committee will deliver Spectrum Requirements documents to the Technical Committee and Submit spectrum issue to specific regulatory bodies.
